Golf

BLAGSS Golf is an LGBT golf society, with a range of golfers from beginners to low handicappers. Our group's aim is to be welcoming, friendly and supportive, regardless of your ability. We just want more LGBT people to play golf! We welcome both women & men with or without handicaps (we run our own society handicap system), so you don't need to be a club member to compete.     Events are held at a variety of courses around the Brighton area, and sometimes farther afield, including weekends away. We also aim to hold events that cater for those newer to golf as well as more experienced.

How We Play

***N.B. Sign in as a BLAGSS member to see full details of each event ***

There's a variety of events throughout the year; competitive, social and for fun, whilst other include prizes, plus food &/or accommodation as detailed on the actual event posting. We welcome everyone to play, regardless of ability, and will support you! We've created a pathway from beginner (Beginner & Rusty Irons lessons, Pitch & Putt, Range balls) through to expert (9 & 18 hole events, plus bigger competitions) , from those who only have an hour to spare, to those who want to go away and play for 3 days!

Many events require a sign up, although this isn't always necessary for some of the more 'social' activities. See each event below & sign up on this website, where necessary, for each event  and pay any appropriate deposit. See individual listings for venue & cost details. If you would like to come along to play, register your interest on any of the events below and/or ask to join the BLAGSS Golfers Forum Facebook page, which we'll also be using to organize other games and social events throughout the year. If you want to see some more detail about events that have happened, look at expired articles (link on upper right of page).

How To Play

We aim to play in line with the official rules of golf. However for beginners we will coach you into these so don't worry too much.  It is useful to over time to learn the rules as you will have to play by them when you start to enter competitions. Our handicap secretary runs regular fun briefing sessions on the rules so its worth looking  out for these and going along.

Here's the link to the rules and you can also download a PDF there for your perusal!
