Rock Climbing

Welcome to the Rock Climbers

We are a small group of enthusiastic and very friendly Spidey people from the Spider Valley Tribe of the Lost Garden who have evolved, from centuries of scaling walls, in order to drink from the bountiful fountain of youth, with sticky pads on our hands and feet. However, we need new blood so that our race does not die off.

We welcome you to join us to climb, on a weekly basis, in doors in Winter : Wednesday from 6.30pm at the Stanley Deason Centre, Wilson Avenue, Brighton, Fridays at K2 in Crawley or at the Adur Outdoor Centre, Shoreham and outdoors in Spring and Summer. Don't worry if you have never climbed before. We will teach you the basics and soon, you too, will have sticky pads on your hands and feet. A harness and climbing shoes can be hired from these indoor centres if you don't possess them for £1 per item. The price for climbing at Stanley Deason Centre is £6 and the price at the Adur Outdoor Centre on a Friday is £6.80 cheaper if you are a member. The cost for climbing as a group at K2 in Crawley is £6 each.

Climbing will give you a buzz like no other sport. It is a great way to both physically and mentally release the tensions of the day as all you have to focus on, is the next move. You will have to use not only your body to get up the rock but also your mind and problem solving skills, not only use your strength but also your balance and if you lack these qualities no problem, they will surely come from the very practise of climbing.

If you would like professional instruction then please feel free to check out beginner courses at the Adur Outdoor Centre in Shoreham or at the AU rock court at the Stanley Deason Centre.

An outdoor climbing course on Southern Sandstone is planned for April 2012 so keep your Spidey eyes peeled but it would be a good idea to train up indoors first. Once a member of Blagss you will receive rock climbing mail detailing climbing activities as due to availability, we can't  climb on the same day of the week at present.
